John Lionel Calvert Booth (1876-1915)
Booth was born at Catterick, Yorkshire. In addition to his published illustrations (Booth edited Sporting Rhymes and Pictures, 1898 and contributed numerous cartoons to Punch) he was war correspondent for The Graphic during the Balkan War. By 1912, Booth was in Australia, working on a farm in New South Wales. He died in April 1915 of wounds sustained near the Dardanelles whilst serving with the Australian Imperial Force. He was buried at sea.
