Postage
Aside from lower value items (which are sent by standard mail or Airmail), all purchases are sent via trackable services. In most cases this will be by Royal Mail Signed For, Parcelforce 48 or (for larger works) another suitable carrier. All purchases sent by trackable means will require a signature upon receipt. As soon as your order is dispatched we will send you a message with the tracking number for your item and an indication of the likely delivery date.
Postage within the UK is free. If you are outside the UK, the delivery charge (based on the size and weight of the item/s) will be indicated at checkout.
Packing
Sending works of art through the post and via other carriers can be a tricky business. Frames are generally fragile and items glazed with glass present a further challenge. We undertake a number of measures to militate against these potential dangers.
Our supply of smaller standard frames (available with a range of our works as indicated on appropriate listings) are all glazed with Perspex. This greatly reduces the risk of breakage in transit. Other smaller works that are already framed and glazed are dispatched with low tack tape over the glass to provide enhanced protection. We remove the glass from larger watercolours and drawings prior to dispatch as it is virtually impossible to send glass of a certain size without it breaking and potentially damaging the art work (a decent local framer will be able to re-glaze the work for a very small amount of money). Please see individual item descriptions to view framing options and see how works are being sold (framed or unframed, with or without glass).
The majority of the framed pieces we sell are dispatched in custom made double-wall card boxes, snuggly wrapped in acid-free tissue and packing foam or bubble wrap. Larger framed works are covered in multiple layers of bubble wrap, as appropriate. Mounted works are sent between stiff card and unmounted works on paper are sent rolled in a postal tube.
We have over ten years’ experience of sending art works all over the world and are yet to have a piece damaged in transit.
