Frequently Asked Questions

What do you sell?
We sell a wide range of two-dimensional art. These are categorised as ‘Fine’ and ‘Decorative’. The fine section includes original oils, watercolours, drawings, etchings and engravings. The decorative section encompasses period prints from distressed antique books and associated publications (our extensive collection of prints taken from old Punch magazines, for example). ‘Fine’ and ‘Decorative’ are notional categories designed to aid your search through the site. They are not definitive, nor are they mutually exclusive. If it is an interesting image, we are happy to offer it for sale. All items are described fully and accurately. We do not sell reproductions.
Do you sell reproductions?
No. All our works are genuine and as described.
Can I trust your item descriptions?
Yes you can. It is not in our interests to make false claims about the items we sell. Our aim is to encourage repeat business by ensuring that our clients are happy with their purchases and the service they receive from us. Any damage or defects are fully noted enabling you to make an informed decision about the art you buy.

How accurate are the website images?
We photograph or scan each of the listed works as accurately as possible. This means ensuring that each work is represented correctly on the monitor we use. Naturally, different monitors and screens vary in terms of colour display but we will always aim to ensure that the image you view is as close to the actual object as possible.

How can I find what I’m looking for?
You have two options. If you know what you’re looking for – be it a particular artist or medium or subject or location – then the search box on every page will guide you in the right direction. Your other option is to browse our different collections from the homepage. If we don’t currently have what you are looking for do check back and follow us on social media via the links at the bottom of every page. We always post notifications when we add new stock or publish a new article, usually at least once each week. If you are interested in a particular artist or subject matter, do let us know and we'll be happy to help.

How long will it take for my purchase to arrive?
All of the works we sell are dispatched same day or next day (or Monday for works ordered over a weekend). The majority of our sturdily-packed parcels are sent Royal Mail Signed For and should be with you within two days of dispatch. Larger or heavier works are sent via Parcelforce Express 48 or other suitable couriers. All works (with the exception of lower priced items) are sent via trackable means and will require a signature upon receipt.

What if my item doesn’t arrive?
In the unlikely event that a purchase doesn’t arrive, please contact us.
What if I change my mind about a picture?
We offer a no-quibble returns policy. Simply contact us within 14 days of receiving the work and we’ll discuss the matter with you. If the fault is ours (if we make an error in the description, for example), we will pay a full refund including return postage upon the work’s safe return to us. In all other circumstances, we are only able to refund the original purchase price.

Do you offer a framing service?
Yes and no. We don’t offer a bespoke framing service. Smaller mounted (matted) works can be supplied in our standard stock frames, available in black, wood or gold gilt. This service is listed as an option next to applicable works within the online gallery. For larger unframed works, the safest delivery option is to ship them unframed enabling you to have the work framed on arrival.

Do you offer a valuation service?
This is not a service we offer. However, if you have a work of art that you’d like to find out more about, do feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to offer any advice we can.
