James Henry Dowd (1884-1956)
An artist in oils, watercolours, etching and drypoint, Dowd exhibited at numerous venues in London and beyond. His illustrations for Punch first appeared in 1906 – an association that would last for the next 42 years. Childhood and children were his favoured subjects (Price described him as the G D Armour of the nursery).
