Lawson Wood RI (1878-1957)
Wood was born in London and studied at the Slade and Heatherley’s School. In addition to his work for Punch, Wood had his illustrations published in Graphic, Strand Magazine, Boy’s Own and many others. Remembered today for his works depicting animals, Wood was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and a Fellow of the Zoological Society.
