William Woolnoth (1780-1837)
Woolnoth was a prolific line engraver of landscapes and topographical scenes. He engraved numerous plates after Frederick Wilton Litchfield Stockdale (1786-1858) and Thomas Allom (1804-1872) amongst others. Woolnoth produced the engravings for The Ancient Castles of England and Wales by the geographer Edward William Brayley (1801-1870).
He is recorded in Mackenzie as William Woolnough. The guide states that William was probably related to fellow engraver Thomas Woolnough (Woolnoth).
