William Charles Wilson (b. c. 1750)
Little is known about the engraver William Charles Wilson. According to Bryan’s Dictionary, ‘He worked in mezzotint, and was employed by [John] Boydell on the ‘Shakespeare Gallery’. His plates were after [Robert] Smirke, [Richard] Westall, [Benjamin] West and [Jean-Baptiste] Pillement.’
Mackenzie states that ‘His work appears to consist entirely of bookplates.’
