What is a
Linocut?

What is a Linocut?

A linocut is a relief print produced by the removal of negative space from a piece of linoleum. The resulting raised areas are inked and pressed to produce the finished print.

In contrast to an intaglio print, a linocut relief print requires no great pressure to produce the image. A small amount of even and consistent force is all that is needed; no printing press is required.
