Johann Heinrich Ramberg (1763-1840)
Ramberg (his given names are occasionally anglicised to John Henry) was born at Hanover; he moved to London at an early age. He may have studied under Joshua Reynolds and Francesco Bartolozzi. He produced engravings for the publisher John Boydell and for George III from his own drawings. He travelled widely through Europe before being appointed court painter to the King of Hanover.
According to Redgrave, Ramberg contributed work to Royal Academy exhibitions from 1782 to 1788.
