Edward John Roberts (1797-1865)
Roberts was an English etcher and engraver who studied under Charles Heath (1785-1848). He worked with Heath on The Keepsake; Heath’s annual, published from 1827. According to Redgrave, ‘…the occupation in which he most excelled was in etching the engraver’s [Heath’s] plates; and as he was largely engaged in this manner his name is little known.’
Additionally, he produced plates for Samuel Prout’s Continental Annual and Romantic Cabinet, 1832 and for The Pilgrims of the Rhine, 1841 by Edward Bulwer Lytton.
