Blueprints by Andrew Heard
Andrew Heard is a digital artist based in Hexham, Northumberland. His work explores interactions between geometric shapes of varying degrees of opacity.
In the Blueprints series, Heard modifies and layers circles, quadrilaterals and other geometric forms to create patterns and shapes within a square boundary. Only two colours – blue and white – are used. At the beginning of the process, pure white, although visible in some of the finished works, does not exist. Initial shapes are of a very low opacity; the vibrancy of the white elements is created by layering and modifying the early forms.
Occasionally, the process results in recognisable elements and shapes. This is rarely the goal at the outset.
